Ostrovskys correspondents - the largest representatives of Russian literature, theatre, journalism, including L.N. Tolstoy, I.S. Turgenev, I.A. Goncharov, F.M. Dostoyevsky, A.F. Pisemsky, N.A. Nekrasov, M.E. Saltykov, I.I. Panaev, and many others - was found in the personal archive of the late playwright and in 1921 was acquired from his heirs by the founding director of the A.
